One of the suggested topics for Part 2 of the Language A: Language and Literature guide is 'arts and entertainment'. As we explore how various media achieve different effects on different audiences, we cannot ignore the importance of entertainment. We will go beyond a simple definition of entertainment as the sole purpose of a text and ask: 'Whom does the text entertain?' 'How does the text entertain?' 'Can entertaining texts influence people's ideology?'
