The Higher Level Essay requires, well, essay-writing skills, such as the ability to write coherently and accurately. Many of these essay-writing skills are also covered in the Paper 2 skills section of this Subject Site. The Higher Level Essay asks students to write a 1200-1500 word essay on a topic of their choosing from content studied in the course. Like any skill, the ability to write an essay can be developed with careful practice and diligence.
