This Higher Level Essay is based on the essays of George Monbiot.  A useful task is to first read the essay itself before considering the essay (again) with a teacher's comments attached. One thing teachers and students may ask is this: Where students have studied a body of work such as poems (literary texts) or journalistic essays (non-literary texts), how many should they reference if writing about them in an HL Essay? To this question, there is no one good answer. In this exemplar, the student references a number of Monbiot's essays; are they too few, too many or, like Goldilock's porridge, just right?
