Works
Part 4 of the course - Literature – critical study - requires students to ‘explore literary works in detail’, analyzing ‘elements such as theme and … ethical stance or moral values’, while showing ‘[understanding of] and making appropriate use of literary terms’ (Language A: Language and literature guide, 2011, p21/22).
Part 4 works need to present interesting and accessible variations in authorial style and technique. The works must be highly engaging, encouraging students to make interpretations based on the impact of authorial choices of language and structure.
In the following pages you will find examples of activities being used to explore suitable literary works. You can either use the activities directly along with the works suggested, or adapt them to suit the works you have selected.
