Also, make sure you avoid conclusions that are obvious from the outset of the process.
Aims of the research (why the EE is worthy of study)
In this section of the planning form, students should outline the reasons for their interest in the EE title and research question, convincing the examiner of why the topic or issue is worthy of study. For example, the student might be interested in knowing whether the strategic alliance between Tata Coffee and Starbucks has increased sales revenue and market share in the highly competitive market in Mumbai. Alternatively, the student might have a parent or relative who works at Tata Coffee so has a personal connection with the business organization.
Methodology and sources
In this section, students should outline the main methods of secondary research. They can include primary research methods, but only if these are fit for purpose in addressing the research question. There is no obligation to use any primary research.
Students should also outline the types of sources to be used, such as:
- academic journals
- newspapers
- textbooks
- documentaries
- Internet websites*
- Interviews#
* All sources must be fully cited, not just the website address
# If interviews are used, students must specify who they are planning to interview and why (i.e. what relevance does this research have with regards to the title and research question of the EE?)
Tools, theories, and techniques
What are the important or key theories, tools, and techniques that will be used to address the Research Question?
Students should state the main tools, theories, and techniques that they intend to use to answer the research question.
