Alex Peterson, a founding figure in the IB world, said “if you believe in something, you must not just think or talk or write, you must act.” Service is a key element of all four IB programmes. In the CP programme it is referred to as "service learning".The IB defines service (learning) as "Collaborative and reciprocal engagement with the community in response to an authentic need." (CAS Guide p20).
